Last p-day was the best thing ever! I took a super long nap and we basically did nothing all day long which was exactly what I needed because I am so exhausted all the time. Tuesday was a really strange day. We had three people randomly stop us on the street and ask us if they could take the lessons. Weird right? I don't know how it's going to happen with them but it's exciting anyway. So here's a secret. Everyone thinks our mission baptizes a ton of people. Maybe it used to be like that, but now it's definitely not. It's actually really rare to have progressing investigators. So the fact that we were approached by three people is actually really cool because we don't contact at all and we weren't expecting to have any investigators.
The menos activo work is going... great. Great as in we are still really excited about it and still having a million lessons a week. But, menos activo work is hard. They promise you they will come to church... and then they don't. They act so excited about the church and then nothing changes. But, I think that's where patience comes in. These people just need love. They need to rediscover their testimonies. So a lot of these people may not be active this transfer or maybe not next transfer. But, I know this area is ready and that we are going to see miracles. Actually, we are already seeing miracles every single day. One person I am really grateful for is R. She has done a 180 in just 3 weeks and her testimony is soo strong. A as well. He knows it's true with all his heart and now he has so much animo (affection) for the church. All these people do. They just have to be reminded. That's the great thing about this work. We get to help people remember and recognize the spirit.
So we had 12 people show up at church. That sounds like a lot but we were definitely expecting a lot more. But we were grateful for those 12. And not that its about the numbers but someone in parra died and EVERYONE was at the funeral because everyone there is family. And that's why no one was at church, but anyway... I love Parra SO much. there was a lot of apostasy there in years past so we are having to work really hard to overcome that but God is looking out for that area right now and we are seeing a lot of great changes. On Friday the leaders of the ward came to do visits with us. We literally had 10 leaders in the ward in each lesson. I think the menos activos thought we were trying to do an intervention. But it was good and we love having support from our branch.
For the most part, our house is really great. Yesterday I had to give TWO talks. One in the pueblo and one in Parra, and I didn't even write it out in Spanish! It was seriously a miracle and everyone kept complimenting me on my Spanish. But I think that's only because I didn't really talk the first two transfers and now I have to talk all the time. Also, a great thing is Brockman loves to study so we are learning a lot of Spanish and we practice all the time in the streets.
So I don't know what is wrong with me but I am suddenly crazy for beans and rice with tomato. I could eat it ALL the time. Also, in English class we had about 30 kids again, and we had 3 20ish year olds who think we are great. So we were singing head shoulders knees and toes and the older boys thought they were too cool. So I made them do it by themselves. They were really embarrassed but it was SO funny. Later that class a little girl I like to call "Rosie the Tank" decided to punch a little boy in the face. What do you do when two little kids are fist fighting on the ground during your English class while everyone else is cheering? Well I didn't know either. Long story short I ended up breaking up the fight, hero of the day. Sharing the gospel, breaking up fights, same thing pretty much. Also, we have a rat in our house. We have never seen it but it eats mangoes. I freak out at night and can't leave our room because I am scared that I will run into the rat. But, its okay because Enrique is buying us rat poison. Anyway, the work is good, I love you all and have a great week! Madison
