The crazy things you do on a three hour bus ride

Last night before transfers

 Hola everyone!
This week has been.. crazy to say the least. Monday I got the news that I was going to PIANTINI.  What I knew about Piantini was that in the WARD has 3 members of the 70 and a lot of Americans and is super rich. All true. In our ward are Elder Anderson, Elder Zivic and Elder Cornich all of the 70 which is a super amazing experience.  Also a lot of Americans in our ward, a lot of the senior missionary couples. Our area is actually the richest area in the entire country so that will be interesting. Also, we are in the area of the temple. How cool is that? There are over a thousand missionaries in this country and me and my companion are the only two that have the temple in our area. We are sure blessed because we get to see the temple almost every day and it is so beautiful.

Hermana Melgar and Hermana Rush in their new area in the Capital
Capital... super different than the south. Especially Pianitini. Ferrari, Bentley, Mercedes, Mercedes, Mercedes. There are actually cars here. Real cars. And not very many colmados (mini stores.) But there are real supermarkets and light and water. I took a hot shower, so that was a cool experience.  My companion is Hermana Melgar and she is great. We work really hard and I have a feeling its going to be a great transfer.  So being in the capital and the richest area we actually have 0 investigators. Yes, zero. Zip. Nada. And there have only been two or three baptisms in the last year-ish. Needless to say we do a lot of contacting. But it's hard because our area is full of fancy apartment buildings that have guards who won't let us in. Oh, also our area is HUGE.  Like It would take us an hour and a half to walk top to bottom and an hour to walk side to side. I am sure there are a lot of areas we just haven't discovered yet. The other day we contacted the whole day and no one let us in. We knocked and knocked and knocked and no one. But at the very end of the day we knocked a door and we had an AWESOME lesson. Seriously, so great. And you know what's cool? It's happened every day. We have hard days but every single day we have ended with an amazing lessons. It has been a huge test of faith but I have already grown and learned a lot. Its kind of like God is saying good job for working hard when the work was hard... and blesses us with us a lesson. So you got letters from Elder Johnson? He is way too nice for all those things he said. And he bought us ice cream which was saa-weet. We love ice cream. He gave us such an awesome referral and we had a great lesson but he doesn't live in our area which is sad.  We gave him as a reference (Elder Johnson is the Legal counsel for the church in the Carribean.  He was taking a  run through the park and saw the girls teaching a man and asked if he could sit in on the lesson.  He then emailed us-"As the lesson progressed, I sat there spellbound at the interaction of these Sisters and the literal joy that radiated (in the heat) from their faces.  Hermana Rush is very smooth and direct.  The investigator’s reluctance to say a prayer evaporated in the enthusiasm and direction of Hermana Rush as she directed and them led him through the steps and helped him every step of the way.  The investigator was no pushover willow-in-the-wind person, but his “No” was no match for the love and direction of Hermana Rush.  He was proud of himself when he finished the prayer".  It was an amazing email to get as a parent.  He has emailed several times because he has been so impressed with these two sisters).

Long story short, I am super tired because we walk a million miles every day and contact a lot. But I love it and I am so grateful for new opportunities to learn and grow. Oh also... I am an hermana leader! Not that I know what that means. So far I know that I have to go to a fancy meeting the first Thursday every month, do intercombios (exchanges) with hermanas from 3 zones, say all kinds of advicey things and when someone is sick I have to ask them how many times they have gone to the bathroom. So... but ya it was definitely a surprise. Anyway, love you all and have a great week!

also, I have decided not to come home early for school. love you! (It's like she dropped the bomb and ran!)
