Okay, so I am about out of time so this might be pretty short but we had a really great week. Hermana D and I have been having a great companionship and working really hard. We taught N&W and their two little kids. This family is a blessing in our lives. They told us they just want us to stay all the time and share with them all day because they feel so great when we are there. We told them that that was the Spirit and that when they get baptized they can feel that all the time. Tuesday we started doing practices of the lessons during companionship study. It's really hard but it helps a lot and I am able to teach a lot more. I also understand pretty much everything in the lessons. I am starting to freak out because I have to leave Dawe in 3 weeks!
Good news, A is still alive and does not have rabies. But seriously that's my biggest fear. Also, there are HUGE black moths here in Ocoa probably 10 inches long and they are everywhere. I am afraid of those too. We are now teaching a ten year old in our branch how to read and do math. It's super sad. When I asked him if he had a book, he brought out a super advanced textbook about rocks. If that was the only book I had I wouldn't know how to read either. We also met with C who is so awesome.
Wednesday was the coldest day. I would say it was in the 60's and it made my cold shower torture. I had to hide under my blanket to keep warm and we wore jackets all day long. Crazy ! Thursday was he fourth of July so we wore red, white and blue in honor, and we made the other girls in our house sing american songs with us. We taught our English class the pledge too.
Thursday N&W told us THEY ARE GETTING MARRRIED: seriously an answer to our prayers. They read the law of chastity foyetto (pamphlet) and prayed and felt like it was the right thing to do. Then they shared that they have had so many blessings since their decision. W found work and a bunch of other stuff. Why are they so great? And the best news is they are getting baptized Sept. 21 or maybe earlier. Which means they could be sealed as a family Sept 21 2014.... the week before I come home. I know it will happen and I am so excited. Friday we went to Bani.. blah! But our zone is super awesome this transfer so it was really fun. Also we got mail, thank you everyone for the letters!
Random story: Two elders in our zone told us one day they were walking through the woods to take a short cut and they happened to run into a member and a new convert, both teenage boys. The boys asked what the elders were doing and to be dumb they said looking for references. The new convert asked what that was and the other member's eyes lit up and he said ... like Joseph Smith! So the two boys just cheered and got excited because they thought the elders were going to talk to angels. Super funny.
Saturday we cleaned the capilla (chapel) with the rama (Branch). A lot of people showed up which was great. The rest of the day was pretty rough. No one, literally no one, let us in. All the sitas (appts.) we had fell through. So we probably walked 20 miles. Not even a joke. But Sunday was like the best fast Sunday ever. A bore her testimony and a bunch of other people and I have never felt so much love in one room. That night C went out with us for about 2 hours. We took him to a little menos activo who is 11. She is really great and loves to talk and wants to be a missionary. She turned to C and asked him how old he was and why he wasn't on a mission. Then we went to N&W's. He was totally impressed by them and saw how great missionary work can be. After, he told us how strong he had felt the Spirit and how much more excited he is to go to church. He wants to come out with us more often. I think he will go on a mission. He would be a great missionary too.
That night SO MUCH DRAMA: the other hermanas were having a hard time. They were on the phone with president and the other leaders until like midnight and it was really crazy. So D and I made brownies(their answer to everything) and tried to calm them down. But today they went to the capital to have a special interview. Chances are we will switch companions and D and I will have to split up. I am soo sad! But hopefully they will just work it out. Anyway I love you all, have a great week! Hermana Rush
This is part of a different letter which I thought would be helpful to other's going to her mission.
So.. my foot is fine. It was just like a weird bug or something. I carry my pepper spray with me everywhere. The men here are super fresh so sometimes late at night we have to be careful. We have a plan though, hermana d will knee him to give me time to pull out my pepper spray and then I will spray him in the eyes. But it would also be good for dogs too. It is seriously my biggest fear because like 5 people I know have had to get the rabies shot. A is okay though. I really, really hope I will be companions with Hermana S though. I miss her so much. and Hermana J too. We haven't been able to find E which is sad but her aunt told us it's better if we come around 7 so I think we will try that. I am seriously so jealous you got to go to Kelly Clarkson. Hermana R is jealous too because she loves her. So I got the dear elder from Olivia, if she has any more questions probably just tell her to email me because I won't get any more letters before she leaves to come here. So here is some stuff for her...
Bring plastic shoes or shoes that will hold up in the rain. A lot of people have these crocs that look more like flats. They aren't super cute but they are necessary... oh and mom, I don't super need them because I found some plastic shoes that work so don't worry about it... don't bring button ups because you will never wear them. Bring skirts that are wash and wear and wont get ruined very easily. Cute t-shirts are the best. Bring Down East half caps and half camis because anything else is way too hot. Try to bring shirts that don't need undershirts. Bring a cardigan or jacket because the CCM is freezing and Ocoa (the city she is in) is also freezing. Bring a real blanket because I am super glad I did and only bring bottom sheets. Unless you don't bring a blanket then bring a top sheet too. Bring makeup and contact solution to last because it is SUPER expensive and contact solution is really hard to find. and tampons too. They really only sell them in the capital. Bring measuring cups and spoons if you can because thy are also really hard to find. Bring stickers to give to little kids because it motivates them to behave during the lessons. Bring scrapbook paper because everyone likes to decorate their agendas super cute. you can just cut out pictures from the liahonas but paper is fun too. Bring tape and duct tape and lots of pictures of your family and friends. Don't freak out about learning Spanish or knowing the gospel perfectly. It's hard, but it will come. the ccm is what you make it. A lot of people stress out but the best advice I have is to have fun! You will miss your family but learn to love your companions and make them your family because it will make the time a lot more fun,. learn a lot and work hard but don't do more than you can handle. The teachers there are AWESOME and you will love them. The mission is such a blessing and you will come to love these people. don't get caught up in the gossip and if people tell you bad things about certain missionaries don't listen because its never true. Also, bring a flash drive because people will take pictures that you want and that's the easiest way to collect them all. Bring waterproof makeup because we sweat a lot. Bring an umbrella with reinforcement. Bring sweat rags... embarassing but you are going to wish you had them. Bring an international credit card and pepper spray. Bring lots of church cds or an ipod without radio or internet ability. I cant wait for you to come here and to see you! I tell everyone that you are coming because I am really excited. Anyway, that's all I can think of for right now but if I think of anything else I will let you know! Also mom, if you can think of anything else that I told you, tell her! love you!
