CONGRATS SASS!!!

First of all... CONRATS SASS! (Savanna got her mission call to Lima Peru South)  I seriously am soo excited for you and when we get back we can just all talk Spanish together, or at least three of us... that means the rest of the family better start learning! So this week was super hectic crazy stressful but at the same time one of the best weeks ever.  Monday night we had a really funny lesson with A and the JF family. I was trying to explain ordinances and covenants to A and he was having a hard time understanding it. I was just about to give a really easy analogy when J F said he was going to explain it super simply and then starts off with... "so say you want to buy a solar panel"... wait, what? We were laughing pretty hard and A was definitely more confused but its okay we got it straightened out.
Tuesday we bought wheat to try to make wheat bread because they only have white here. We tried to grind it in the blender but it didn't really work so then we were just left with a huge bag of wheat with no way to use it. So finally we just decided to fry it. Welcome to the DR where we try to be healthy and then just end up frying it. Later we taught this really great kid named GY.  The problem is his cousins name is gredy. gredy greby. greby gredy. I cant keep them straight. Dominicans are the funniest with names. Either they make up their own names or they name all their kids the same name. Like frangeli, frangeli (with the accent on the last name) and frandeli. Yes that is a real family we are working with.
Wednesday we were walking to a cita with G. His brother is a return missionary and his neighbor too and we just thought they were the biggest bums ever. But when we got there P was exercising and H was blasting Mo-tab and cleaning the floors. Then he quoted us the mission handbook. When we asked him if he went to bed at 10:30 he got all offended and said... I am in bed by ten so that I can read for half an hour. Lets hope I am not that weird when I get home. Later we taught the two little girls, E and L who are awesome still. But they have a monster of a little sister named H.  She is seriously makes it so hard to teach them. Thursday we taught G about the Godhead and he totally understood. He is so so smart. It's the greatest thing to watch him understand and feel the Spirit. He told us that when he is at church he feels something special inside. Isn't that great? Later, two hermanas from San Juan came to do intercambios (splits) with us which was really great.  The problem is we don't have extra mattresses so hermana Huish thought we would take one for the team and sleep on the floor. Worst idea ever!  I swear we have the hardest floor and neither of us slept.
Friday, interviews. We basically sat around all day for a ten minute interview.  Hermana Rodriguez talked for a long time about how shameful it was to get on facebook on your mission... duh. But it's crazy to me how different missions are in different parts of the world. Like Makaelee  gets an iPad and iPhone at the end of this month. In our dreams! I feel really bad for president though. It was his birthday and we were the last zone to have interviews and it was transfer week so he must have been exhausted. Actually  I know he was because he said amen in the middle of my prayer and I just had to play it off.
Saturday... BAPTISM DAY!!   The day started off at 8am when we went to clean the church and the pila (font) which had tarantulas in it.   Luckily  a ton of people were there to help so we didn't actually have to do it. Then we started filling the font and had district meeting and then after that the interviews of the people to be baptized, because the other hermanas had one too. Stress number one.  O showed up 45 minutes late. The thing with her is that she knows it's true with all her heart.  She has the sweetest strongest testimony. But she has put off her baptism for 6 months just because she doesn't like the spotlight or big groups of people  but she finally came so we were happy. And she passed, woohoo! Then we went home and made cookies and prepared more stuff for the baptism. Then we went to a cita with M but she wasn't there so it looks like we will have to delay her baptism AGAIN. At 5pm we show up at the church and the font is empty.. ahh! Mind you, it took 5 hours to fill the first time. Well we figured that out and had 5 different hoses filling it up. And then O shows up 45 mintues late... and when she showed up she was SUPER nervous.  She saw how many people were in the building, because there were A TON, and she didn't want to go in. And she asked me if we could just do it another Saturday.  No, O, no we cannot. By this time I was freaking out, Huish was freaking out and O was definitely freaking out. We finally got her calmed down and I gave her her scooter keys back and she put them in her motor and started to take off. Turns out she was just playing a joke but it actually wasn't really funny. So we got her in the capilla but she didn't want to wear a jumpsuit or take pictures or give her testimony after. We finally got her in a jumpsuit and to kind of take pictures and we got the meeting started. We were really sad because no one from her family showed up.  But by the time it was time for the baptisms she was all happy and smiley and she literally ran to the pila... it was really cute. And when she came out of the font she was so happy and just glowing. She is not really one to express her feelings but she was so happy! It has been such a blessing to get to know her and have the opportunity to learn from her. She is definitely a special person in mine and hermana huishe's lives.
Sunday O was confirmed, yay! Newest member of the church. Then for the next two hours Hermana Huish and I tried to figure out the baptism of G.  He was supposed to get baptized with his mom but she is in the capital and not really ready yet so we had to call her a ton of times but he is getting baptized this Saturday!  He is so happy.  Literally every time we see him he does the sign of baptism and tells us how many days he has left. He is the cutest. Now we are trying to figure out how to make a baptism special for someone who is deaf.  The most important thing though is that he will be able to feel the Spirit. We are so excited and have to finish up teaching him the commandments this week.
Transfer calls were last night and our whole house is still the same.  I really am excited for this transfer and for all the things that are happening in our town.  I hope you guys are all doing great... love you! H Rush
