Halloween Missionary Style

Hi family! I feel like nothing eventful or funny happened this week but I guess I will tell you anyway.  Tuesday we FINALLY got to study. It was the best! Then we made bbq pizza for lunch and then on the way out of the house my bright blue pen exploded everywhere. It's really a good thing that it didn't get on my new skirt. Just all over my hands. And before I realized it I rubbed my face so it was all over my face too. Luckily some nice man let me use his hose. Then we went and taught a menos activo family... it makes me glad that we have real investigators now. Menos activos are so hard!  There is this one guy who agrees with everything we say. about faith commandments... everything. and he knows so much. But then when we ask him to go to church he says no. and he went through the temple and wears only his garment top walking around the streets. That's bad.

District Meeting/Halloween Party
Later we went to A and R and had to quitar them. It's so sad because we were so excited about them  but they don't want to do anything. They don't want to read or go to church so we obviously cant help them anymore. That night we called the elders and told them they had to wear costumes to district meeting. Then we made brownies with candy corn, cookies and our costumes which was fun. And we also ate the rest of the candy corns... oops. Wednesday we had our really fun Halloween party/district meeting. The elders were clearly not as into the costume thing as we were but it was still fun. Then we went to A's who is the best of course. Before the lesson we were talking about how much we love concon (kind of burnt crunchy rice-weird!) and then U. went and made us a huge bowl of concon. She's the best! Then we taught about diezmo and ayuno (tithes and fast offerings) and he loved it. He is the best investigator ever. He just loves it all. Then we taught music class to P and H. Oh, also while we were at the F's they referred to NY as the "gran manzana" (Big Apple).
Hermana Unicorn and Pocohontas

Thursday we had to clean like crazy people because we had an hours notice that the Clawsons were coming to do a house check. Like, we really are pretty clean but when we only have a tiny bit of water left we usually choose to shower instead of mop the floor. Then we went to G's which is great of course. Later we taught our investigator named "ma flo".  Yes that's his name. Friday we went and visited M, a member and her nonmember husband. They aren't really chatty so I asked them to tell us something about themselves and they said they have never once fought. It was really cute. Also M's brother died so she only wears black skirts and white shirts. And she is going to do that for 6 months! Now that's dedication.

Service Project- picking up rats and diapers
Saturday we went to Azua to participate in a service project. We got to wear those great yellow helping hands vests and pants. Then we went to this sketchy mountain and picked up loads of trash. Let me tell you, so so gross! I thought I was going to throw up like 12 times. Fresh diapers, dead rats... you get the idea. And all of this was while trying to balance  on this mountain so that we didn't fall down and die. But it was great and we always love service of course. Also we were with our whole zone so it really was actually fun. Later we went to a man named B. The whole time he was staring weirdly at us and then he told us how beautiful we are and asked us if we would or could ever love anyone in this country... and he has a kid and a wife who is pregnant.... nice.  Later we went to English class which was actually a bust. We tried to teach how to talk on the phone. But then there was a 25 year old Dominican English teacher who kept trying to tell the class that that's not actually how a person would talk on the phone in English. And that it was too informal and that "whats up" is not a common phrase.... err okay. Its not like I lived in America for 20 years or anything. But it's okay.  He was just trying to help. Sunday was ward conference and G passed the sacrament. I guess someone (H) forgot to tell us he was getting the priesthood. But it was so great and he looked so happy!
These Girls Love The Popsicle man
We had a couple of citas. One of which was really great. This little girl who is 11 has been coming to church so we taught her once last week.  When we went on Sunday her whole family wanted to listen and they were all really interested! We are so excited to work with them. Then we went to G's and gave him the photo album we had made which he had loved. Then we were walking to O's and I felt something like a bug on my neck so I brushed it off but then I felt it again and there was a HUGE spider on me. Needless to say I freaked out!! Then we went to O's.
At the end of our lesson 3 boys from the ward showed up which was SO great! She is so timid but she has started going to institute every week and church for all 3 hours and she is making so many friends and they all love her. It's the best. Well that's all I got but I love you all and hope you have a great week! Hermana Rush

*also tell Jennifer Wagner thanks for the cute letter!

There are like 5 boys in our branch that are all putting in their papers right now. All of them are the only members in their families but they are all best friends and support each other it's the best!
