Hi!!
Thank you for all the letters! I miss you all a ton. Just to clarify, when I said I took a shower in the waterfall I really just washed all the mud off me. My companera was worried it would get back to the president and we would get in trouble. So there it is. On Tuesday we had SO many lessons. It was great.. lesson after lesson after lesson. We had a lesson with this super kid. He bleaches the front of his hair and wears wristbands with the names of the kids from one direction on them. But when we asked him about one direction he didn't even know who they were. He just wore them because he liked the colors. But the great thing about him is he contacted US. He showed up at church with a friend, A, who is a member and asked if we could teach him. We have also been teaching A because she is a recent member and she is so great. I have probably told you about her. She told us, this last week, that she wants to go on a mission. She is only 16 so she still has a couple of years, but she is so awesome! She is constantly sharing the gospel with her friends. She just really gets it. Every time we visit with her she shares something with us and I learn so much from her.
So literally 10 people have told me since I have been here I look like a girl named Celest. There is lady from here who married a missionary from here and they moved to the states. Celest is her daughter. Just found out, though, that she is 6. Good to know that I look like a six year old. But the best part is the mom and daughter are coming here to stay for 3 months and everyone here LOVES them and they are super active in the church. We hope that they will help people be excited about the church. Also on Tuesday we went and knocked on an investigator's door. She wasn't answering but there was this super awesome D.R. song playing in the street. H Dawe started singing to it and I started air guitaring. Soon we were jamming out to the song and then the investigator's son opened the door.... err whoops. He just laughed and it was super funny. On Wednesday we contacted a lot. But, we don't ever knock doors. You just yell buenas or saludas into the houses. We contacted a couple of girls who seem so great. They were really listening with their hearts and I know they felt the spirit. We also had English class. We had a really good turn out and halfway through about 6 teenage boys wander in. They didn't really want to participate in the beginning but by the end we had them singing the days of the week to the adams family theme song. It was entertaining. We ran into some little boys who had come to our class the week before and they pulled the alphabet paper we had given them out of their pockets. Apparently they carry it with them everywhere. The class has become a great way for us to find people to teach.
On Thursday morning we went to the Haitian flee market in the morning, don't worry we got permission. It was CRAZY! There were piles and piles of clothes everywhere and people grabbing and shouting. Anyway, I got a really great dress that even has pockets. On Friday we had a great lesson with my favorite family, L and her kids. They are so awesome. They love us and we love to teach them. They are so excited about the gospel and to be baptized. They were supposed to be baptized this Saturday but we have stake conference in Bani so we have to wait until the next week. During our lesson on Friday, though a man showed up and started preaching about a vision he had. It was super, super weird. But luckily this family is solid and they were just rolling their eyes at him and didn't take him seriously. Right now we have 10 investigatos with fechas (investigators with baptism dates set) which is so awesome. We also did a lot of work this week with menos activos and we had a lot of break throughs. We had 7 investigatos and 10 menos activos show up to church this week- yay! This week I learned a lot about patience. This language is hard and this work is hard but it is so worth it. Even if just one person is converted, my whole mission is worth it. Teaching A and L and her family and other investigators has been so great. I love when the spirit is just so strong in the lesson and you just know that they are feeling it too. Anyway, thanks for the love and the letters. love you all!
