Hi everyone!
This might be kind of short because i don't have a ton of time but I will try to write as much as I can! A lot of crazy news this week... so Tuesday we had interviews and I was actually able to do the whole thing in Spanish! I was so proud. On Thursday we not only found out that Hermana L was leaving but we found out the Hermana R was being transferred the very next day... we are so sad! So now hermana D and I are all alone in the huge house. It's so quit, and our district is only 4 people. We are now working the other hermana's area too so we are so busy. Basically going crazy. But, this probably means that both D and I will be staying in Ocoa. She will be taking over the hermana's area and I will be staying in our area. So that's both good and bad. I LOVE Ocoa. It's really awesome and I love the people here but it's also really hard. The rama (branch) is just really struggling and so it's kind of exhausting. Also, we don't really contact anymore because no one wants to listen and really no one is progressing. But I think that's kind of a mission wide thing. No one in the mission is really baptizing. But we get to do a lot of menos activo work which is great and I love it.
We are still working with N&W. One night we met with them and they got in this HUGE fight in front of us. Apparently, they are going through a hard time in their relationship and financially. W wants to support his family SO bad but he just can't find a job. We found out that sometimes all they eat all day is water. Isn't that the saddest thing ever? And they have two kids. It's so sad. We want to help them but we don't know what to do. But they love the gospel and they love each other. They know they need to get married and be baptized but they need to work some things out first. So we are trying to help him find a job. Everyone, just PRAY FOR N&W. We are also working with a lady name G who is awesome. Super spunky! The only problem is she hasn't come to church yet. We went up to Parra twice this week.
On Wednesday we met with 17 inactive yw. 17. But they are all excited to go back to church. On Thursday we had a yw activity and literally every menos activo yw we have been teaching showed up. It was seriously a miracle. And they all hard parts memorized and it was so cute.
Sunday might have been one of the most stressful days of my life. So we show up to church and like 10 minutes before the meeting starts they tell us we have to give the talks.... luckily we were able to run back to the house and grab talks we had written. Still stressful. Then we went up to Para for the sacrament meeting up there and they did it to us AGAIN! But this time I didn't even have a talk to use. I just found a scripture and rambled about it for about 5 minutes. I don't know if it made any sense but Hermana D was proud so that's all that matters. So at church I am basically known as the candy girl. For awhile I just had a bunch of mints in my backpack and I would give them to kids to calm them down. There's no nursery so the classes are always full of crying children. Anyway, now all the kids know I have candy so they sit by me at church so they can have some. But they are quit, so it's good (she is already learning the art of bribing children-good parenting skills to have). Also, so many blessings on Sunday. We got rides up and back from Parra, which is a big deal because it takes over an hour for us to walk just one way, and most of it is uphill. And a member gave us a mango and we visited president Sierra that night and he gave us ice cream. God was definitely looking out for us. This week is going to be crazy and transfer calls are on Sunday. ahh! I am so nervous. Today we are in bani because we were so bored in Ocoa. We had a fun zone activity and got to talk a lot in English. Next week I will have a new companion! love you all!
This is part of her letter to me:
Reyes is so beautiful and one of the kindest people I know. I am super super sad she is gone. I can't believe summer vacation is almost over! That went by so fast! I am soo scared for transfers. Hopefully I just get a really great companion. and hopefully they put some more Americans up here! Tell Brady I will pray for him too(Brady Heymeyer who makes his family include Madison in every family prayer even though they have never met her) unless he is already gone... so I heard Sass (Savanna) told you she is going on a mission? How do you feel about that? I am soo exited for her! Make sure she does her papers before she goes to Hawaii. anyway, love you!
This is part of her letter to Jeff:
Dad! Thanks for the letter. Sounds like a great book you read about Stephanie Nielson, I know all about her story. Super sad but so inspirational. I love that quote about the angels. (“But when we speak of those who are instruments in the hands of God, we are reminded that not all angels are from the other side of the veil. Some of them we walk with and talk with—here, now, every day…..Indeed heaven never seems closer than we see the love of God manifested in the kindness and devotion of people so good and so pure that angelic is the only word that comes to mind”.) It sounds like you had a great time in Laguna and I hope work is going great. Tell brother Foster thanks so much for the letter. It was a great surpise! he said a lot of great things and something about being stuck away and wanting to be home and making out with his wife... haha made me laugh a little bit. I won't be brag, but sass told me her news last week:) I am soo excited for her! She is nervous but she will be great! love you and thanks again for the letter, makes my week!
