Dinner=Cookies

Hi Everyone!

I can't believe its already Monday again. So Monday the elders brought us plates and forks and stuff so we could stop eating off folletos (pamphlets) which was good. We had lunch with our zone which was pretty fun. So many Latins though. On the way home we had to take trucks and there wasn't enough room so we sat in the back which was better because they always shove 20 people in the front and then it gets really hot. Tuesday we ran out of water. Like no water coming out of the faucets, no water in the tank, no water in the buckets, no drinking water. So we went and got drinking water and then prayed all morning for water to come, but it didn't so we had to shower with drinking water. Oh and our room is on the second floor and we don't ever get water in our bathroom anyway so we have to take bucket showers, but we don't have a bucket so we have to use the blender to dump water on our heads. Welcome to the D.R.!  Later around 5 our neighbor called us because the water came so we had to go fill up our tanks. But then it wouldn't stop, so our patio flooded.  I guess God really heard our prayers. That same day we had a huge mission miracle. We were walking through the streets and found a truck piled high with bananas. So we bought 30 because we seriously can't find any fruits or vegetables in our town.

Yes! She has some bananas.  And they look great with her skirt.
Wednesday we had a really cool experience. We are still trying to figure out our area so we have been doing contacting and setting a lot of citas so we don't end up getting to them all. But we had scheduled a cita with a woman named L and we both really felt like she was someone we needed to go to so we went. We had a good lesson with her and after we asked her how she felt.  She told us that she had earlier forgotten about the cita we had with her and she left her house.  She was walking and felt really strongly that she needed to go back to her house and she heard a little voice telling her to turn around and go home. She thought it was weird because she had no reason to be at home so she ignored it and kept going but then she felt it again so she went home. Right as she got home we got there and that testified to her that we really were sent by God to meet her. How cool is that? We were then able to teach her about the spirit and she was really receptive. Afterwards I just kept thinking "what if we hadn't followed the prompting to go to her house?"   Then that experience would have been lost.

Later that day we went and taught E who is super cool and super receptive. I think we are going to set a fecha (date) with him soon.  But while we were there a little girl came over with a huge comb and started ripping through my hair. Oh my gosh, it hurt so bad and I think I lost half my hair. And I might have lice now too, haha.  Apparently she thought we needed to brush our hair.  We met with O who has a fecha for this week. She is superr cool and has read the book of Mormon 3 times already.  But we had a lesson with her and we had asked her a bunch of questions and she said she didn't  remember anything so we were a little worried. Then we asked her to teach us about Joseph Smith and she said she didn't remember. We waited for about 5 minutes and finally she told us the whole story with a ton of detail. It turns out she is just timid. She is so great and knows so much and loves the scriptures a ton. We are so excited for her!

Zone Conference
Everyone thinks Madison and this Elder look like twins.
Sisters Huish, Jorgenson and Rush
Thursday we had a conference in the city with President Rodriguez and Elder Zivic, a member of the 70.  It was amazing and we learned so much. And we also had a real lunch with chicken that actually looked like it didn't have a disease. He talked a lot about baptisms and how we need to be more serious about our work. It was definitely a good reminder. But it was SO hot. I really don't think I have ever been so hot in my whole life. And the conference was from 9 until 4 so by the end of the day we were dying. Also, they made me say the closing prayer in Spanish in front of a member of the 70, president, and about 100 missionariesso. I was so nervous the whole time. I have been out 6 months but prayers like that are still scary. Can you believe that this week hit 6 months? Soo weird. The time is going by so fast.

Good thing I at least taught her how to back a boxed cake.
Saturday we went out with this guy who tries to speak English to us but it always just makes us laugh.  He is great and gives us a ton of references.  We also had English class which was so great because only adults come and they actually listen and want to listen. We taught them all "see you later" so now everyone in the ward says that and its super fun. Sunday we had a great day but this morning around 5 in the morning some boys in the ward prank called us; funny, but not very funny because now we are so tired.  So we still only eat cookies for dinner but the other day we had mangoes for breakfast which was the best thing ever. Our house is big and great. The other hermanas are great;  overall everything is great! I love this area soo much. The ward here is really awesome and really supportive.  Hermana Huish is doing so great! She is so willing to try and her Spanish is really great. We have a lot of fun together and I am so glad I get to be her companion! I love you all and have great week! Sorry if I forgot anything. Just read hermana Huishes letter and you will probably have the whole story!  Hermana Rush
