Grandma T's Nordstrom Scarf, Dominican Style-So Cute!
Hi everyone! so happy six months to me. That was actually 2 weeks ago but I forgot to write it last week. That means I will be seeing all of you in less than a year, except sass:( (Savanna gets her mission call this week!) But missions are so great, I am so excited for you!
Tuesday we came up with a way to teach G. We walked into the church and in the primary there were the church pictures scattered everywhere and tons of them too. So we found a bunch of pictures that correspond with each lesson. We also taught M on Tuesday who is the cutest old man ever. He lives with a member family. Their house is amazing. They live in the middle of a field and they have a cabana out back that for some reason is super breezy and 20 degrees cooler than everywhere else.
Wednesday we saw 47 naked boys. No joke, every boy age 10 and younger never wears clothes or just underwear. But we are used to it now. We taught this woman named V on Wednesday. She has a lot of interest in the church. Before we shared with her, she just got really sad and told us she has no idea who her family is. Super sad but it gave us an opportunity to share with her about families and prayer and stuff. And we really think the church can help her.

The Cool Cabana
So Thursday we went to M again. The member family he lives with is the best. Super funny and super loud. Our lessons with him take forever because each member of their family wants to talk and share. While we were there they gave us canya, seeduela and guanabana. We are so lucky! Also we started teaching this cute little family. The dad of the family is actually pretty interested which is like a miracle in this country. He has a fancy i-phone and we went to share with him he had downloaded the book of Mormon app on his i-phone and he already knew about general conference because he saw it in the church website. How cool is that? Also on Thursday we totally persuaded a panederia (bread) guy to go buy wheat and to make us personal pan integral and to give us free cookies and 2 sugar rolls for 5 pesos. Sometimes it pays to be a white girl in the D.R..

Friday I had to give a mini boche to E because he is so dang lazy. He just tells us what we want to hear and then doesn't even do anything. He doesn't have a job. He doesn't have work. He doesn't have a girl friend and somehow he can't find time to read a tiny bit of the folleto. We might have to quitar (cut/stop visiting) him soon which would be sad but its part of the work I guess. We also found out that G can't read. How sad is that?! He can't actually communicate with anyone. The thing is he has a hearing aid but even when he wears it he doesn't actually know what he is hearing so he doesn't wear it. So we are just trying to figure out a way to help him so he can get baptized. He wants it so bad. He is so smiley and always comes to church and always tells us, or signs to us, that he wants to get baptized. I am sure he feels the spirit stronger than most of us because he doesn't really have any other distractions.
Saturday we had to go to the city for conference which was good and we had a couple of investigators come to church which was awesome. Conference was so great but I can't wait to be able to read it in English! There is just something great about hearing it in their own voices and in your own language. Did you guys see that girl in the family choir who was singing so huge? We were laughing so hard. When we were coming back from the city there was this man shamelessly taking pictures of hermana Huish and I on his phone. He was like a foot from our face and telling us to smile so that he could remember us. So don't be surprised when we show up on the internet. Sunday conference was also great and J came... yea!

District Sisters
Today we had a zone activity in a banana farm. It was so beautiful and I attempted to climb a coconut tree but it was super scary so I didn't make it to the top. We ate sancocho a Dominican soup and one girl found a chicken heart in hers. So sick! Every morning our neighbor takes a whole pig and just chops it up. It is so disgusting and makes me want to gag. Anyway, I love you all and hope you have a great week! Hermana Rush
