Okay, so here goes my week number 20 in Piantini. Last Sunday, I forgot to tell you, I called L. to tell her happy birthday and happy 1 year in the church. She's from Ocoa, if you don't remember. Well, it was sooo good to talk to her and I cried a little because she actually remembered me and I didn't think she would. Monday, we had a super awesome lesson with a reference named F. He is so cool and so ready but.... he doesn't live in our area. But I just have to tell myself we are all a team so it's okay. But really, we were pretty sad when we had to hand him over to the elders. That night we ordered pizza and ice cream and played some dominoes as a going away party for Hermana Gomez. Tear, tear, tear. Ya, we are pretty sad. BUT, Hermana Santana is Hermana Huish's new comp. She's super cool and is going to set me up with her friend so that I can live in Spain. Cool plan right?
We did A LOT of contacting this week. We contacted an adventista. All was great until we mentioned church was on SUNDAY. I thought she was going to seriously hurt us but don't worry, we got out alive. We contacted, well tried to contact, a man in the park but the moment he saw us he just said no. I tried to explain we just want to present ourselves but he said no a million times and shook his head so we felt really awkward and had to back away slowly. One day it was POURING so we took shelter and there was a man there too so we decided to teach him a little bit. Well, turns out he has had 70 "wives". He tried to explain woman like they were refresco (ice cream). Once you have one flavor for awhile you get bored and have to switch. Super classy right? So we taught him the law of chastity and then ran away because he was making creepy faces at us.
We found a super awesome menos activo family. They were super nice but the dad was very... eccentric. He brought us "juice" that was actually not hard jello. Not so tasty but we appreciated the gesture. Friday night we had another awesome lesson with another awesome reference named F. He also doesn't live in our area. What are the chances right? But it's okay. We know God is just preparing something super great for us. Y. was out of town this week which was so sad. But, we do have this great new investigator named JB. He is actually american but his parents were Dominican and now he retired here. Sometimes we give the lessons in English and I sound like a dummy. He has read the koran, tora, bible of the testigos, and like 7 other scriptures but never the Book of Mormon. He is super excited to read it so we are stoked.
Saturday we had plans to go back to a mom and daughter we had contacted who I didn't really think were interested. But we went back anyway, Neither of them were there but another daughter was and she is super cool. She has a baby so she was wanting to find a church to raise her son in but she was just waiting for someone to invite her. She committed to going to church. Sunday morning we went by her house to walk with her and she was reading to go and SHE ACTUALLY WENT. Such a miracle in Piantini. Her name is W. and she is super cool.
Sunday we had so many plans but a missionary couple named the Kanyangas came up to us and were so excited for us to visit them. Well, turns out there was a confusion but we went anyway and they are SO great. They are from the Congo so they speak french and then they had to move to Korea so they are fluent in Korean but they got their call to the D.R.. They don't really speak Spanish at all and just a little bit of english. Anyway, they are the best ever and only have 8 years in the church but have the strongest testimonies ever and after 10 minutes they made me want to be a better person and missionary. I might have to go visit them in Korea some day. Being a missionary is the best. Love you all!
